School, Festival, Outdoor Show, Corporate Event and general "Rules of Engagement"

Thank you for considering booking Talons! A Bird of Prey Experience for your School, Corporate Event, Party, Festival, Sportsman Show, Fair or other event. As you know from web site, our program is not only educational…but a most exciting and interactive program for any group of people to enjoy!

In order to provide the highest level of professionalism, we do require that Promotors and Sponsors consider and accept the following requirements before booking us:

  • Schools, Fairs, Festivals: If you request a flying demonstration, we will need adequate indoor or outdoor space. We CAN fly our Hawks and Owls in gymnasiums or auditoriums.
  • NO POWERPOLES. If you do have power-poles…they must not have transformers or insulated "jumpers" on top. We will NOT fly ANY birds if this type of situation is present.
  • STUDENT CONTROL: Teachers and school staff MUST have control of their students. Unruly students must be quickly and quietly removed from the program.
  • ELECTRICITY must be provided, if you require our PA system.
  • We have a cool, tension style tent set up for outdoors, which requires driving stakes into the ground, which only leave a 2 inch diameter hole (in 6 locations around the tent perimeter). This is minimum grounds impact, however, it needs to be considered. I will need one fairly strong person to assist in erecting the tent (it takes only 15-20 minutes, total).
  • PLEASE relay to ALL guests that they must NOT wear fur of any kind, not even as a joke (unless you have a specific individual you wish to sacrifice to the raptor gods???).
  • NO SMOKING during our program or near our display. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • We reserve the right to "re-book" due to inclement weather or other serious emergencies (traffic accidents en route, personal injuries, etc.)
  • We will re-book at the request of the host.
  • We require a letter of intention/contract upon booking. There is a $250.00 fee to hold a rain date.
  • State importation permits MUST be obtained prior to entering any State other than NY, with most states requiring a 30 day advance application. Talons! will follow the DEC laws per state regarding free-flight shows and public contact.
  • Full payment must be made upon completion of Talons' performances at your location, unless other arrangements are agreed upon in advance.

  • SPORTSMAN/OUTDOOR SHOWS: A 10x30 booth (with full rod and drape set) will allow us to bring 5 raptors, and to set up our digital photo equipment, display tables, etc. We also require electricity to be provided.
  • We suggest you place us in the rear of your show, to draw your guests all the way through, to our display. We are happy to perform 2 falconry demonstrations per day (up to 30 minutes long)and hold Q&A all day.
  • We will make every attempt to fly birds during the program at your show...however, we reserve the right to NOT fly birds if we feel it is not a "safe" or "sane" environment. Guests caught bating, or harassing our birds will be ASKED TO LEAVE our area.
  • PLEASE REMEMBER THIS: These are LIVE WILD ANIMALS. PLEASE...DO NOT put us near ANY OR OTHER ANIMALS, chain saws, firearms or paintball demos, cooking demo's, Rock climbing walls, or a radio station booth.
  • Talons! will make every attempt to work with your show's set up and situation. You can enable us to provide your guests with THE BEST Bird of Prey Experience, by following the above guidelines.
